Vivid Reality in Homerton is certainly an eclectic, unexpected mixture. A vegan cafe/ virtual reality gaming arcade seems like an odd concoction, but honestly, it works perfectly.
It’s a little bit intimidating for newcomers if they’ve not done VR; the headsets are huge and you attach them to your face, and it all feels a little Black Mirror. But the owner, Rebekah Douglas-Bagley, is more than happy to explain how it all works.
There are a good selection of up-to-date games, which with VR gaming is always the primary concern. These machines are not something you’d really want to buy, which makes gaming arcades and cafes the perfect locations to experience them.
Living in the future
The experience is disorientating, and a little bizarre, but certainly worth at least one try. If for no other reason than to feel like living in the future.
And the food is excellent too! Vegan, but not all health food. It’s sausage rolls, cakes, milkshakes… perfect snacks for when the VR is getting a bit much. It’s vegan without being health-nut-tasteless vegan, and honestly? We need more of that.
Vivid Reality is an unexpected combination, but it’s one that’s proved to be a thoroughly pleasant one.
