Teenagers are organising the major concerts of tomorrow thanks to a new youth programme for music event management at Chats Palace in Homerton.
Following a donation from Sanctuary Housing, the arts centre’s youth movement have been training 14-19 year olds in the core skills required to be an event manager.
Calling themselves Dreams Come True (DCT) events, the teens are stepping into the limelight, using their new skills to organise monthly music nights at Chats Palace as part of the Young Chats programme.
The teens’ last show, 90s themed ‘Doin’ It Old Skool’’, took place last week, and gave emerging Hackney musicians and dancers the opportunity to showcase everything from acoustic acts, spoken word and hip hop.
Rebecca David, project manager for Young Chats said: “Everyone at Chats Palace is proud of our resident event managers, DCT Events. They have achieved an extraordinary amount in a very short space of time. It was fantastic to see the local Homerton community enjoying all their hard work.”
