Nieves Barragán Mohacho, head chef at the acclaimed Regent Street restaurant Sabor, has announced plans to open a second restaurant in Shoreditch.

In partnership with hospitality group JKS Restaurants, Legado (‘legacy’ in Spanish) will open later this summer at Montacute Yards on Shoreditch High Street.

Originally from Bilbao, the chef will expand her exploration of Spanish cuisine at the new site, drawing inspiration from traditional dishes across the country.

Barragán Mohacho said of the new venture: “It has always been my greatest pleasure to cook food from my country, but there are still many more stories to tell about the dishes and flavours that I haven’t found outside of Spain.

“Legado is a kind of playground for me, and I am excited to share my memories and discoveries of food and drinks.”

Sabor opened in 2018 under Barragán Mochacho’s leadership and was awarded a Michelin star that same year.

It has received acclaim from guests and critics alike for its inventive exploration of Spanish cuisine, offering Andalusian tapas, wood-fired dishes from the Castile region and fresh Galicia-inspired seafood.

Juliana B, who recently dined at Sabor, told the Hackney Post: “I have yet to find something I don’t like on the menu. I can’t wait to try the new one out.”
