Hackney’s own skull-selling Little Shop of Horrors aims to re-open as a museum in September.
Viktor Wynd’s Little Shop of Horrors, often known by the name of his ‘social sculpture’/party promotion company, The Last Tuesday Society, was well-known as a curiosity shop, selling human and animal skulls, shrunken heads and two-headed teddy bears among other items.
The shop closed its doors this month for refurbishment. However, the artist announced on Twitter this week that the shop would become The Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities, Fine Art & Natural History in September.
The shop, which also functioned partly as a museum and art gallery, is described by Wynd as being “designed in the style of a 17th century Wunderkabinett,” a personal collection of whimsical and interesting objects generally kept by aristocrats.
Wynd will be trying to raise up to £50,000 on Kickstarter to fund the transformation.
For those who can’t wait, a range of items from an eight legged lamb to a golden pig snout are available online.
