A Halloween scheme, Trick or Eat has seen huge success in raising resources for Hackney Foodbank over the weekend.
Jenna Fansa, the organiser and founder of The Local Buyers Club said she was “blown away by how much food Hackney residents donated- almost enough to fill two lorries”.
“Many families wanted to celebrate Halloween but were concerned about trick or treating during a pandemic – encouraging their children to follow our Trick or Eat trail and drop food along the way was a lovely way of enjoying the occasion while helping others”, she said.
“With a second lockdown underway, Hackney Foodbank faces another surge in the number of people in crisis – this massive donation of food couldn’t have come at a better time and our very heartfelt thanks go to everyone who donated”, added Jenna Fansa.
The scheme involved more than 20 streets across the borough with over 50 households putting collection boxes outside, so that family and friends could donate to the cause.
