Homerton is already enjoying a reputation as a hub for foodies, as new restaurants and bars open to cater to a discerning clientele.

Food lovers spoilt for choice were offered some assistance by Time Out’s Love London awards this week, which named Hatch, on Mackintosh Lane, the best cafe in the area.

The cafe boasts a licensed bar, hot-desks and a traditional strop-and-blade barber.

“I certainly didn’t expect to win given [our competition]. In some ways I feel guilty about winning,” said Mr Skitt said. “The accumulation of things we do here is a real pull for people to come.”

If people want to work they can come and sit at our desk spaces, or [visit] Ben the barber in the corner with his strop and blade.”

A lady called the place ‘hip, but not hipster’, which I like.”

Time Out named the nearby The Jackdaw and Star on Homerton High Street the best pub in the area.
