A campaign to return Frankie the dog ended on a happy note yesterday as he was returned to his owner.
The seven month old chihuahua, who had been missing for 10 days, was the subject of a campaign organised by the Dogs Trust and supported by the Hackney Gazette.
He was stolen from an event on Gasgoyne Estate organised by the Dogs Trust on the 10 March. He had been spending time with the charity’s team that day showing off his agility while volunteers were microchipping local dogs.
The theft happened after Frankie was moved into a Dogs Trust van as his temperature dropped.
The campaign to find him saw huge support on Twitter from local residents.

The Dogs’ Trust said in a statement: “We are pleased to announce that Frankie is back where he belongs after a kind member of the public spotted him on a building site and recognised him.
“He quickly took Frankie into a local police station – and we got the amazing call to say they had our boy!”
Hackney MPS tweeted the moment when the puppy was returned.
