It’s the plain simple old school ethos of Huckle the Barber, an East End mecca for beard aficionados, that make services so in demand.
The swanky decor is littered simple red and white tiles and Belmont chairs that makes you think you’ve been transported to the 1950s. Coincidently, the barbers sit on the previous site of Murdock London.

Saf’s Barbers
For the Hackney local looking for shave that doesn’t require queues or fancy wallpaper, Saf’s is for you.
Its professional simple shaves are cheap and definitely comparable to its high end equivalents, for when you want to indulge on budget.

Barber & Parlour
Barber & Parlour is more than just a barbers, as the name suggests, but it’s more than just a parlour also.
It’s a lunchroom, a cinema, a cafe and a juice bar, but most importantly a very good barber.
It’s perfect for when you want a shave and don’t want to make your mates wait for you.

Strop & Blade
Named after a straight razor and the tool that is used to sharpen it, Strop & Blade is making a claim on its beard shaving credentials.
It is however, true to its claim at being excellent at shaping beards into topiary masterpieces.
Pluses include a host of beard products that you didn’t know you had to have, such as beard combs and beard oil.

Rocket Barber Shop
Rocket Barber Shop, is probably the most highly rated barber in this list for shaves, and at £6 it’s a snip. However, it doesn’t do wet shaves.
Instead its focus is on trims using scissors like a pro-gardener manicuring an unruly hedge.

Murdock Shoreditch
If you’re looking for the real deal then Murdock London in Shoreditch is the place for you,
The interior designer’s attention to detail is matched by the barbers, who can pretty much create any beard style.
Opened in 2006, it combines traditional razor shaves with a modern twist and amazing ambiance.
Points of interest include extensive beard care product and advice on beard care.

Here’s me having a £45 shave at Murdocks, the most expensive on the list, and my face is now so smooth it could featured in a R&B classic.
