Orient goalkeeper visits aspiring footballers

Leyton Orient goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux visited young footballers in London Fields during one of their recent training sessions.

Vigouroux is the current first choice keeper for The O’s and has played in all of their league games so far this season as they look to gain promotion from League Two.

The former Tottenham and Liverpool ‘keeper, who has also represented Chile at youth level, spoke to the groups, sharing his expertise between the sticks with the next generation.

Ben Corbyn, founder of London Football School (LFS) where Vigouroux visited, said that it was the perfect chance to hear from the 28-year-old because it was goalkeeping week at the school.

Corbyn said how pleased he was that “Orient’s player’s player of the year, manager’s player of the year and fans’ player of the year came” to speak to everyone at LFS.

“He came down, met the kids and had a chat about goalkeeping and how he got into it.”

“The [kids] absolutely loved it, he went to all the different groups, they all wanted pictures and he spoke for about an hour and a half, and it was great.”

Vigouroux looks to have left a lasting impact on the children he spoke to, and it appears he has also gained some future supporters. “A few of them want to go and watch Leyton Orient now,” Corbyn said.
