Mossbourne Community Academy has won The Hackney Mayor’s Award for Musical Excellence for the third time.
The result was announced at Hackney Empire last week, during an event celebrating the musical achievements of talented students, schools and communities in Hackney.
Mossbourne students performed “O Fortuna” by Carl Orff before being crowned this years recipients of the award.
Matthew Watson, Director of Music at the Mossbourne Federation said: “We are very surprised and pleased to win this award. It is lovely to be recognised for the extensive work we put into our music programme at Mossbourne.
“Mossbourne Academy offers a range of music provisions to more than 300 of their pupils, including the opportunity to play in a range of bands and benefit from individual music lessons.”
More than 400 young people from Hackney’s primary, secondary and special schools took to the stage to demonstrate the high-quality music taking place in schools in the Borough.
