Here are some egg-cellent ways to keep your little chicks busy in the upcoming Easter holidays.
Sports
Access to Sports Project will be holding free sporting activities throughout the Easter holiday in Islington and Hackney.
Children can get involved with football, tennis and more.
There are various locations including Millfields Park, Finsbury Park and Finsbury Park Leisure Centre.
Libraries
In addition to fun events, Hackney’s many libraries keep any keen readers busy over the holidays.
Homerton Library is holding an Easter fidgets craft session on Tuesday 4th April 2.30pm – 3:30pm.
Stoke Newington Library and Dalston Library are open every day and would be great options for any bookworm.
Sutton House
Bring your children along to Sutton House for their interactive trail. The time-hopping adventure will teach them the story of hot cross buns and the origins of the egg hunt as well as other Easter traditions.
St Peter’s Church
Join an ancient tradition of lighting an Easter fire and candle – bringing darkness to light!
An Easter vigil starts at 7:30pm and is followed by refreshments, all are welcome.
Easter celebrations continue at St Peter’s Church on Saturday 8th April at 3pm. Children can enjoy an egg hunt and crafts. Children under 10 can also participate in an Easter bonnet competition.
Clissold Park in ‘Goat’ Newington
The Park has Anglo-Nubian?goats, deer, and an aviary with a range of birds. The animals are visible from the park and are also visible during normal park opening times.
The ‘Animal Enclosure’ is open to the public from park opening until an hour before park closing times and allows for a different view into the aviary, goat, and deer enclosure.
The two goats are named ‘Wallace and Gromit’ after the two popular stop-motion characters and were born in the Hackney City Farm, before coming to Clissold Park.
Playgrounds
A trip outdoors can be a great way to burn energy during the holidays. Some great parks and playgrounds in Hackney include:
Hackney Marsh adventure playground. Located in Daubeney Fields, the park boasts large wooden structures that are great for climbing and a tree house.
Pearson Street adventure playground and Homerton Grove adventure playground offers free Play Schemes over the holidays, check out the websites to book.
