BMX obstacle challenges have become part of a fundraising campaign for a brain injury charity in Haggerston. The charity is trying to raise funds from members of the public to keep itself afloat. Their fundraising campaign has also seen bake sales, raffles, and quizzes.
The “Differently Various” campaign, named to express the diversity of the charity’s members, started on 1 October and will run until Christmas. The campaign encourages people to show their appreciation for Headway’s work in the community by donating to the cause.
Anthony Bonfil, Chief Executive, raised the importance of public fundraising in times like these. “Our finances have taken a significant hit this year…we’re still running at a significant deficit and need funds to continue our work. Supporting a local charity now can safeguard [residents’] future[s].”
While Headway has had work with fewer volunteers and has had to reduce the number of support groups since the pandemic, Bonfil insisted that Headway’s remote activities, including the online support groups, remain “vitally important” as it continues to ensure “the value of this work for vulnerable adults is recognised and prioritised.”
