Hackney Council has extended the deadline for the Additional Restrictions Grant by a week to 12 March.
According to gov.uk, the grant is channelled through local councils to “support closed businesses that do not directly pay business rates as well as businesses that do not have to close but which are impacted”.
Hackney Council said: “We have extended this deadline to allow for as many businesses as possible to apply for the fund.”
The grant is available to small businesses in Hackney that either were made to close during lockdowns, or who have suffered severe financial loss from the lockdowns.
To be eligible, the business needs to come under the definition of a “small business” according to the Companies Act 2006.
This means it needs to meet two of the following criteria: fewer than 50 employees; a turnover of less than £10.2 million; or a balance sheet total of less than £5.1 million.
This grant is for those who did not qualify for the already closed Local Restriction Support Grants, which catered to businesses “in the highest band of [Tier 3] local restrictions”, according to the government’s website.
Hackney Council said that in the first round of the grant, which closed on 8 January, 564 businesses were supported.
