A former Olympian donated seven pairs of football boots to Mossbourne Community Academy (MCA).
Dalton Grant, who grew up in Upper Clapton, was one of Britain’s best ever high jumpers.
Grant won gold medals in the high jump at the 1994 European Championships in Paris and the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.
He competed at three different Olympic Games: Seoul 1988, Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996, setting nine successive national records along the way.
In 2008, Grant equalled the world veteran record at Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, before becoming an ambassador 4 years later at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Grant now speaks at functions about winning and self-motivation, while he continues to coach athletics and other sports.
The ‘Dalton Grant Academy’ also launched the ‘Train Like A Champion’ programme last year, which is an initiative that helps aspiring athletes achieve the optimal balance between academic education and training.
Grant is a patron of MCA, formerly known as Hackney Downs School, which he attended before it closed in 1995.
