Everybody loves brunch – it is just a fact. When else can you combine prosecco with pancakes? It’s the perfect start to a well deserved weekend after a hard week’s slog.
But where are the best places to get your brunch fix in Hackney?
We went out and explored, tasted, and rated numerous outlets in Hackney and have produced this list. Maybe you’ll try all or none, but the food pictures are worth looking at alone.
Hackney Bureau
Where: 3 Mare Street
This canal-side newbie may have a limited chalkboard menu but in this case, less is definitely more. Syrup-drenched pancakes and perfectly poached eggs are the ideal start to a lazy weekend.

Dalston Superstore
Where: 117 Kingsland High Street
Rave ‘till morning at Dalston Superstore and then treat your hangover to a restorative Bloody Mary and avocado toast. Watch out for the monthly cabaret themed brunch.

Raw Duck
Where: 97 Richmond Road
These guys are mad for a good egg – they’re included in everything from savoury porridge dishes to Japanese soups. They also offer a number of “morning drinking ferments”, which will chase even the most stubborn cobweb away.

White Rabbit
Where: 15 Bradbury Street
The brunch menu here is as far from your local greasy spoon as you can get. They smoke, cure, pickle, brine and chum anything that you can eat. Fennel sausages, mead purée and octopus anyone?

The Barge House
Where: 46a De Beauvoir Cres, London N1 5RY
Breakfast in bread anyone?

Lardo
Where: 197-201 Richmond Rd, London E8 3NJ
Italian brunch place named after the fat of a pig in Italian. The place is packed from breakfast until late so it is better to book.
