The Anna Fiorentini Theatre and Film School is due to perform at the Hackney Empire to celebrate its 21st anniversary on 19 March, after the showcase was postponed multiple times due to lockdown restrictions.
The showcase will include a lineup of song and dance numbers and will feature performances from students aged between 7-18 years old.
The school has managed to survive through the pandemic after receiving financial support from a selection of loans and arts grants.
Anna Fiorentini, founder and principal of the school said: “The showcase is a chance to celebrate, and we are beyond excited to be able to finally put on this incredible show. The students have been working so hard and we hope the community will once again get behind our students and support their local children and young people.”
A selection of alumni will attend the showcase. Alumni include Death in Paradise actor Tahj Miles; Jessica Agombar, BMI award-winning songwriter who has written for the Jonas Brothers; and actor Joseph Marcell who starred as the butler in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, who is a long term supporter of the school.
The school has also secured funding for scholarships for their bursary scheme and will offer full and part-funded places in 2022.
Fiorentini added: “Growing up in Hackney, I saw first-hand the lack of inclusive, affordable and high-quality performing arts classes within my community. Wanting to make a difference, I set up the Theatre and Film School in Hackney in 2001 as a Prince’s Trust Business.”
The showcase has a running time of 2 hours, 45 minutes. Tickets start at £10.
