A bike shop owner is offering a whopping £300 for information on cheeky thieves who nicked his rosemary plant.

Sam Jacob, 31, noticed the prize plant worth £30 had disappeared from Micycle East on Southgate Road earlier this month. He said he found it so upsetting that he’s offering a reward ten times its value to see the culprits caught.

“It was a big plant and quite an expensive one,” he said. “It’d be good if the bastards get a criminal record, and I’m willing to pay £300 to see that happen. It was used by a lot of people.”

Passers-by would often clip off pieces of the plant for use in home cooking.

On 9 March, Mr Jacob discovered the plant gone and a trail of mud leading into the middle of the road. He believes someone drove up, grabbed the plant, and drove off again.

In a tweet sent when the theft was discovered, Micycle East said that they were offering the reward to anyone with “information that leads to the conviction of the cockwomble that stole our rosemary plant”.

Mr Jacobs added: “If someone’s willing to steal a plant, they should be willing to face the consequences.”

Anyone with information should contact Micycle East on 0207 249 1212.
