Would-be entrepreneurs and business beginners are taking advantage of an independent “pop-up school” launched in Hackney this week, giving members of the public a chance to attend a range of workshops to expand their business skills.
Let’s Be Brief is offering 11 different classes, talks and workshops at The Print House in Dalston until 28 March.
The classes aim to be a platform for learning to help small and medium-sized businesses to succeed in the current business environment.
More than 500 companies have been involved in the process, either providing speakers, running a workshop, or attending the classes themselves.
Workshops range from building communities and project management, to business techniques and trends. Organisers say the events are attracting consumers, members of the public, businesses, agencies and freelancers.
Many businesses are currently working in the building or surrounding area, and the project provides an opportunity to gather together and share skills.
The talks will be held by industry experts such as Femi Adeyemi, from NTS Radio, on business topics and trends such as the extensive growth of mobile consumers in the last few years.
Ansel Neckles, a creative advertising entrepreneur, is the co-organiser and co-founder of the pop-up.
He said that the project is going well so far and is looking forward to the rest of the workshops.
“We are trying to open up the professional development community, and reach out to people who may not otherwise get involved,” he said.
“The reception has been quite positive. We’re trying to make the business community more inclusive and co-operative, and encourage those smaller companies to overcome their fears of setting up a business and expanding, and work together to develop ideas.”
Mr Neckles has plans for a similar project at Shoreditch House, and aims to take the idea international.
