By Francesco Zaffarano

A life-size sculpture of a Lamborghini SUV appeared in Hoxton West last week. It was parked on Nile Street as part of a temporary exhibition by HM Electric art gallery.

Titled ‘Rambo Lambo’, it was created by the British artist Benedict Radcliffe. HM Electric’s founder David Gwyther said “People pass by, look a bit puzzled at the sculpture and take a photo, and this is a fun way to engage with art.”

Radcliffe has previously had work displayed at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

SL, the 27-year-old founder of the pop-up told the Hackney Post the aim of the stall “is not to sell t-shirts” but rather to “raise awareness of the mistreatment of factory workers around the world, and to change attitudes [among consumers].”

It is selling a range of unisex t-shirts, caps and beanies with ‘Fair Wear’ certification. The stall’s t-shirts, many of which come in striking neon combinations, are made in Wiltshire with environmental concerns in mind and a reduction of air miles.

Three billboards outside St Mary’s Church help raise awareness for£1.5 million expansion

By Cameron Clark

Three billboards were erected outside St Mary’s Church, Clissold to raise money for a £1.5 million expansion. The signs, inspired by the 2017 film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, aims to draw attention to poverty in Hackney and advertising the services offered by The St Mary’s Centre. Services include a night shelter, a food bank and a weekly migrant centre that provides legal assistance with immigration paperwork. Money raised will go to a new and purpose built space for the Church’s operations, as well as allowing for new initiatives such as the Second Chance Café, which will recycle discarded fruit and vegetables into smoothies and soups.
