Police have made an arrest after an overturned car was found abandoned in Stamford Hill in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after the car was found in a field near Clapton Common, police confirmed to Hackney Post yesterday.
The 1999 Red Honda Civic was photographed trashed and overturned in a field, its roof completely caved in on the driver’s side.
Police were called to the site of the crash at 6.20am, but the driver had disappeared when they arrived.
Hackney Metropolitan Police Service tweeted about the incident later on Sunday: “We’ve finally found the driver and he’s now under arrest on suspicion of drink drive.”

The incident took place near the junction with Portland Avenue.
AÂ 29-year-old man, believed to be the driver, was later arrested at an east London hospital on suspicion of drink driving. He remains in hospital.
The police said enquiries are ongoing.
