A man who was “armed with knives and making threats to kill” is in a life-threatening condition after being shot by police at an address in Lower Clapton.
One officer sustained a stab injury but has not been hospitalised. The Metropolitan Police said there are no reports of other injuries.
Armed police were responding to reports of a “domestic disturbance” at a residential address in Knights Close at 9:43pm last night.
The 28-year-old man is currently being treated in hospital for life-threatening injuries.
An investigation has been launched by the Independent Office for Police Conduct and the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed.
