Members of the public have been asked to leave their mark on history by helping to name five Olympic neighbourhoods to be built after the 2012 Games.
‘Your Park, Your Place’ is calling on the people of Hackney to use their imaginations to come up with ideas, using sporting events, historical connections or the area’s culture as their inspiration.

The neighbourhoods will form the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – one of which will be in Hackney, the others in Newham and Tower Hamlets.
The area – about the size of Hyde Park – will accommodate 8,000 new homes, cultural attractions, schools, health centres and 6.5 kilometres of waterways.
Andrew Altman, Chief Executive of the Olympic Park Legacy Company, said: “We want people to feel a sense of ownership of their future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
“We want your suggestions and the stories behind them,” he said. “People can use their own experiences of East London life for inspiration, or maybe they have relatives that worked in the area.”
Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: “Our city has some of the most famous place names of any city in the world, and with Londoners’ help, I am sure we can come up with some names that put Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park well and truly on the map and resound for centuries to come.”
People have eight weeks to make their suggestions to the Olympic Park Legacy Company, which will be releasing some suggested names on its website throughout the course of the competition.
