You would be nuts if you didn’t find this story adorable.
A lost newborn squirrel was rescued and returned to its mother by the Hackney Police last week.

“Not what you normally find on burglary patrols!” Hackney MPS tweeted at the time, along with some very cute photos of the baby creature which was found abandoned in the middle of busy Leaside Road. The post garnered over 130 retweets, making it one of Hackney Police’s most popular tweets.
“There was queuing traffic and PC Emmett went to them to investigate and found a baby squirrel abandoned in the middle of the road,” Hackney Police told Metro.
It turned out the mother was moving all her babies across the road and had accidentally dropped this little guy halfway through. Luckily the police found the new nest, and placed the lost baby nearby, where the mother picked him up and carried him home.
