Making a pig’s ear of it

Leabridge beer lovers can hop for joy as the annual Pig’s Ear Beer and Cider festival returns to Lower Clapton for its 30th edition.
“The 2012 Festival broke records for attendance on every single session. With 250 plus beers and 30 plus ciders plus food stalls and pub games, we expect to attract even more in 2013,” said Marion Robbens, Chair of East London and City branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).
Casks of ale from London to the shores of Loch Lomond will be available. Nine producers are Hackney based.
“These and other London breweries will be heavily featured,” said Derek Jones, festival organiser.
“There will also be an exceptional selection of foreign beers, including several on draught such as those from Dutch De Molen and American Rogue. On offer –for the first time, we believe, in Britain – is the range of Dominus Vobiscum bottled from the acclaimed Quebec Brewery of Charlevoix.”
The festival is at The Round Chapel, Glenarm Road, 3 to 7 December. Entrance £2 non-members, £4 members.

Chatsworth Road Market Christmas line up

From real reindeer to rajasthani slippers – Chatsworth Road Market’s Christmas line-up promises to have it all.
The specially commissioned Christmas markets will take place each Sunday between now and Christmas.
Carol singing from local choirs and Christmas favourites from musicians and buskers will provide the musical accompaniment, with the Cellar pop up bar serving traditional hot toddies.
After a 20-year absence, Chatsworth Road market returned in 2010 and recently featured among London’s top market destinations in Time Out Magazine.
