Hackney cafe encourages ‘the art of breakfast’

A breakfast spot with a focus on “arty food” has opened its doors to Hackney’s brunch crowd. Enver Ari, owner and chef at Beans and Bites, said that he wants people to appreciate “the art of breakfast” with his presentation-focused waffles, pancakes, and full English breakfasts.

Ari said that he was looking to support the Hackney community by sourcing the ingredients for Beans and Bites, which is on Morning Lane in Homerton, from local suppliers. This includes the coffee beans, which are from nearby Shoreditch roastery Origin Coffee. “We all need to work together to support each other, especially at the moment,” he said, referring to the cost-of-living crisis.

The café has a diverse menu which features American pancakes and waffles, English and Turkish breakfasts, as well as Halal options. Ari will make sure that each of his various dishes look like a piece of artwork, with an emphasis of “quality over quantity”.

Ari, who attended nearby Homerton House School before moving to Chingford, said that he was excited to be opening a business in the area where he spent his childhood. “Hackney is the best place to be. I wanted to come back to my area and serve my community,” he said.

Beans and Bites has both indoor and outdoor covered seating. The café is open seven days a week, from 7am to 4.30pm.
