With the 2022 Hackney Half Marathon getting ever closer, it’s time to get into training, but it can be hard to motivate yourself when you’re competing for pavement space with curmudgeonly commuters who are late for the 08:47 to Crawley.
We know you love running over here at the Hackney Post, so we decided to check out three scenic running routes which could make the training slog for the Hackney Half Marathon a little bit easier to stomach.
Clissold Park
This park in Stoke Newington shines beautifully in the morning sun and there’s always something to grab your attention, whether it’s the deer enclosures, the shimmering lake or Clissold House, a Grade II listed building. A lap of Clissold Park, is around 1.8km, so make it round three times and you’ll have done 5.4km.
Millfields Park – River Lea – Springfield Park
This is more of challenging route, one with bridges to cross and hills to climb. Once you reach the top of Springfield, you are rewarded with an impressive view looking out on to Walthamstow, which is actually lot nicer than it sounds.
Victoria Park
‘The People’s Park’ is a staple route for Hackney’s runners but that doesn’t make it any less special. Last year, we shared a video of that showed just why Victoria is so popular. The bandstands and drinking fountains provide a perfect backdrop, no matter what the weather. One lap is 4.5km, and you’ll have plenty of other runners to keep you company.
So lace up your running shoes and get out there!
