Drivers tired of traffic jams and speed humps will soon be able race to their hearts’ content in a new computer game set on the streets of Hackney.
Blur allows gamers to speed down Hackney streets in their choice of 50 cars ranging from Dodge Vipers to Ford Transit Vans.
Bizarre Creations, the game’s designers, chose Hackney to appear alongside Barcelona, San Francisco and Los Angeles in the eagerly awaited game for PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
Mohsin Chowdry, who works at Games World 4 U on Mare Street, thinks the game will be good for Hackney’s image.
“I think it’s great – I only know of one other game that featured Hackney -The Getaway, which is a bit of a gangster game.
“I think a racing game could improve the reputation of Hackney, especially with the 2012 Olympics coming up.”
Chowdry said there was little danger of gamers recreating the game on the streets.
“Maybe Hackney was a good place to go racing in the past, but at the moment there are building works and quite a lot of heavy traffic.”
The game is due for release on May 28 and is now available to preview using Xbox Live.
Sounds like something DelBoy would say
It's a tricky choice either to race down Sunset Boulevard, 5th Avenue or Shacklewell Lane!
I hope they have included the prossies and kerb crawlers at night time
It's obvious really, isn't it? Barcelona…Los Angeles…HACKNEY?????
