Young women across Hackney will receive free sport sessions this spring as part of the Sport England‘s Active Women campaign.
The Government-backed plan, which is set to last two years, targets 16- to 25 year-old-women, especially those who care for children, who have little access to leisure activities.
Claire Ruocco, manager of Kings Hall Leisure Centre in Hackney Downs, which will take part in the scheme, said: “Women of this age are not used to taking part in sport. Most find that after their teenage years they become a bit inactive and they’re preoccupied with other things.”
Young women can now register their interest in the scheme by contacting Sarah Davies at Hackney Council on 020 8356 7563 or sarah.davies@hackney.gov.uk .
