Homerton has played host to the an innovative new film festival that aims to expand local understanding of what it’s like to live life on the fringes.
The Outsider Film Festival – a collaborative event with the Single Homelessness Project (SHP), which supports homeless and vulnerable people in London – took place at the premises of the Core Arts charity on Wardle Street on Monday.
Chris Wilson, a Hackney artist who recovered from heroin addiction showed three films and gave a reading from his book, Horse Latitudes.
Horse Latitudes graphically outlines some of Mr Wilson’s most personal life experiences, from child abuse and stealing cars.
Mr Wilson’s films feature some of his close friends currently battling addictions or living on the street.
