Anti-sweatshop fashion fans flocked to London Fields on Saturday for craft workshops and a pop-up shop to celebrate ethically-sourced clothing and raise money for charity.
The celebrations, to mark the first birthday of ethical menswear brand Brothers We Stand, raised hundreds of pounds for victims of last year’s Rana Plaza disaster, in which 1134 people were killed when a clothing factory collapsed in Bangladesh.
Designers from Brothers We Stand and Riz Boardshorts held “Sweatshops are wack” placards and gave fashion tips to the party’s 500 guests before a Q&A session on ethical fashion practices featuring Reuben Christian, director at men’s style blog Individualism.

Brothers We Stand was launched by designer Jonathan Mitchell last year with the vision of “standing up for people who make our clothes” by creating ethically-made, sustainably-sourced menswear.
“We wanted to show the victims’ families that there are people who care. Our contribution may be small financially but we hope it can be a source of hope and encouragement.”
