Champion burger muncher, Ross Phillips, has been crowned winner in a competition inspired by the American TV show Man Versus Food.
It took him just 8 minutes, 36 seconds to scoff down four of the meaty treats.
Pop-up burger restaurant, Fattburger Grill Lab, held the event to mark the start of their three-month residency at the Three Compasses pub in Dalston.
Mr. Phillips won the ‘People Versus Dr. Fattburger’ event, fighting off four other competitors.
The Australian, who lives in Camden, said: “I didn’t eat all day. I could have eaten anything, it could have been a rhino’s leg and I would have stuffed it down!”
Contestants tucked away their first two burgers but started to lag as the third burger hit their stomachs. And despite his hunger, Mr. Phillips was soon struggling.
“Going into the third burger I was stuffed — I was so full. I realised I had to stop listening to the enthusiastic crowd and just concentrate on chewing.”
One competitor ran away from the from the stage after starting his fourth Fattburger to throw up in the toilet.
The beef burger chef, known only as Dr. Fattburger, was impressed with their efforts.
“I ate two and it nearly put me in a coma”, he joked.
