Coldplay duo to play in Homerton this December

Fresh from the Wembley stage, Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland of Coldplay are taking on the hall of Hackney Church on 3 December to perform for two UK national charities.

The duo will perform for Crisis, a charity tackling homelessness, and War Child, which protects children in warzones.

Martin and Buckland’s duet follows last year’s Hackney Church performance, from which they raised more than £350,000 for Crisis in only two days.

Crisis is frustrated after Labour failed to deliver its £39 billion manifesto pledge for a “new generation” of social homes. “With over 300,000 households spending Christmas this year without a home, our work has never been more important,” says chief executive of Crisis Matt Downie.

For War Child, this event “has never been more urgent,” said Rich Clarke, the charity’s Head of Music. The concert’s proceeds will deliver emergency aid and mental health support to provide children “with warmth, safety, and hope for a brighter future”.

The prize draw to attend the event will close at 11:59pm (GMT) on 17 November, from which 150 winners will be chosen.
