A man is in critical condition after being kicked off of his bicycle and into a parked car by another cyclist.

The Metropolitan Police have released CCTV showing the attack and are appealing to anyone with information about the attack to come forward.

On Sunday 10 March at approximately 12:45pm, a 30-year-old man was riding his bike on Wallis Road near Hackney Wick Station when another cyclist caught up with and cycled alongside him.

The CCTV footage, released by police on Monday morning, shows that the attacker proceeded to kick the victim, who crashed into a parked car and fell off of his bike. The victim was then taken by ambulance to an east London hospital, where he is still in critical condition.

The attacker, who has been described as a white male in his 20s or 30s, rode away from the scene towards Berkshire Road.

The attacker’s motive is unclear, according to police. Officers are appealing to anyone else who might have been threatened or assaulted by the attacker in Hackney.

In a statement on Monday morning, the Met said: “Anyone who witnessed the incident, who recognises the man shown in the CCTV or has information that may assist police is asked to call Central East CID via 101, quoting CAD reference 3718/10MAR19.”

Anyone who wishes to speak to police about the incident while remaining anonymous should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
