Slap bang in the middle of Mare Street is an eccentric pasteltastic café serving avocado fudge cake and beetroot red velvet lattes, among other treats. Having opened its doors midway through last summer, Palm Vaults has already gained an impressive following, especially on Instagram.
Think pastel pinks and greens, tropical, vintage, the 70’s, more pink and you’re there.
This is why we think Palm Vaults is Hackney’s most photogenic café:
1. Vintage décor
Part 80s TV series throwback, part greenhouse and tropical delight, it’s an aesthetic goldmine. With its vast array of cheese plants, vintage marble-topped tables and exposed brick walls, no stone has been left unturned when it comes to detail.
2. Pretty rainbow drinks
With a number of milk alternatives including soy, almond, oat, hemp and coconut, even dairy-free goers can sample the infamous and highly Instagrammable pastel-coloured drinks, including the matcha green latte and the red velvet latte, coloured with beetroot. Although a little earthy in taste and not for everyone, it is well worth a trip down to Palm Vaults just to observe customers ordering these beverages, purely for Instagram purposes, before taking a sip and silently wishing they hadn’t!
3. The hipster food
The small plant-based menu includes chia seed puddings and coconut yoghurt for breakfast, followed by black rice salad and the classic avo on toast for lunch. Vegan ‘bacon’ made from coconut or vegan parmesan may also be added for extra, as well as vegan cakes, such as the chocolate avocado cake and the rhubarb and coconut cake. Yum!
4. It’s dog-friendly
The Miami-inspired café is also dog friendly. Think cute pooches, wagging their tales as they sit on plush leather chairs tucking into their brightly coloured beverage. Now who wouldn’t want to see that?
