epicentres, and our early, and current, customers reflect that spirit and drive.”

Pop-up shops have become regular features of Hackney’s street scene, but when We Are Pop Up was founded in 2014, it was working with just a few brands and shops in the borough.

The company allows brands to rent retail spaces for short periods of time, helping them launch unique spaces for pop-up shops.

“Today we have offices in London and New York,” said Mr Russell, “and we’ve moved customers between 22 countries around the world.”

Mr Russell added: “Hackney remains one of our most sought-after destinations, and we’re proud to be a Hackney business through and through.”

We Are Pop Up works with spaces in Shoreditch, Bethnal Green, Dalston, and Stoke Newington, as well as other spots around east London.

The company won the award for best business at last week awards, chosen by a judging panel headed by Hackney mayor Jules Pipe.

“The awards help to showcase the extraordinary work of the local business community,” said Mr Pipe.

Other winners at the business awards included The Kenton Pub, which received the award for best entrepreneur.

“Hackney has worked hard to nurture a creative and independent spirit in the borough,” added Mr Russell, “It’s important to keep growing and feeding that spirit.”
