An Essex man has begun an appeal to find his birth mother, last known to live in Hackney.

Steve Lutkins, 45, whose name was Paul Anthony O’Connor, was adopted at birth and has since had no contact with his mother.

Patricia Bridget O’Connor was 14-years-old when she gave birth to Steve in 1968 at University College Hospital, Fitzrovia.

Ms O’Connor, originally from Cork in Ireland, stayed with Steve in hospital for six months after the birth as he had bad asthma.

According to the birth certificate, Ms O’Connor was a telephonist of 8 Weston House, King Edward’s Road, Hackney, E9.

Steve, who is self-employed, has lived in Brentwood, Essex since the age of ten.

“I’ve been thinking about it for a long time,” said Steve. “My ex-girlfriend tried, and now my friend Jade is helping with the search for my mother.”

“I’ve had no contact with her since birth.”
