Two men appeared in court today charged with the murder of Jamie Simpson, the 33-year-old Matalan store clerk who was stabbed to death in a robbery last year.
Anthony Maina, 19, was charged with murder on Saturday morning.
Duana Owusu, 19, of no fixed abode, was arrested and charged with murder and conspiracy to rob on Sunday morning.
Both men appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court.
Another two men, 24-year-old Simeon Jumah and 30-year-old Roy Williams, are due to appear at the Old Bailey on June 12 charged with conspiracy to rob in connection with murder.
Jamie Simpson was fatally stabbed in the neck as he cashed up in Matalan in the Kingsland shopping centre on Saturday night, March 22 last year.
According to newspaper reports at the time, Mr Simpson’s work-mates found him slumped in a pool of blood.
Since his death his friends and family have campaigned to find his killers through the Justice4Jamie website, which offered a £40,000 reward for information relating to their arrest.
On Saturday a candlelit vigil was held by friends and family in Mr Simpson’s memory in the Matalan store in Dalston.
Those present joined hands and held a minute-long silence.
