Sports event for Islamic women

Muslim girls and women from Hackney are to star in a new sporting event celebrating Islamic culture.

The National Girls Eid Cup Festival will see Muslim girls and women from all over the country competing in a range of events including athletics, handball and clay pigeon shooting.

The festival, which is being put on by Leyton Orient Community Sports Programme, will also feature Islamic arts shows and food stalls – and a tour of the site for the London Olympics.

The event is being held at the SCORE sports complex, 100 Oliver Road, on Saturday.
