UPDATE: Police have identified the victim of a murder in Shoreditch as Greg Peake, 26, of the Cranston Estate.

A post-mortem examination was inconclusive. The cause of death is unknown, however the police have confirmed that the victim had not been shot or stabbed.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and has now been bailed pending further enquiries.

Emergency responders contacted the police at 12.39pm on Sunday, following reports of an unresponsive 26-year-old man at a block of flats on the Cranston Estate near Shoreditch Park.

The building sits within a complex of seven apartment blocks, just off New North Road.

On Monday, with the rain beating down, at least six forensic officers and three uniformed officers were at Nevitt House on the Cranston estate.

They were seen examining the bins outside and packing large evidence bags.

Greg Peake was described as “a really lovely guy and a brilliant friend” on Facebook. Another friend described the 26 year old as “a great guy.”
