SAFETY standards in Homerton University Hospital’s catering facilities are inadequate, according to documents seen by the Hackney Post.
After a review of facilities last September, a report by Hackney Council’s Environmental Health department, said: “There are a number of areas in your business where you need to make improvements. These are legal requirements.”
Inspectors reported there was no anti-bacterial hand wash in the kitchens and food was poorly covered in fridges.
The report also revealed food was being served below the legal minimum of 63°C.
Andrew Panniker, director of environment at Homerton Hospital, said: “We recently brought in a new system, which allows us to be more eco-friendly.
“We will continue to make improvements on our safety record for next year’s inspection,” he added.
